One small hole (<dime) that is barely noticeable (and could be darned or reinforced easily if a concern) near bottom of one selvage panel. Some loose threads, nicely finished neck.  Fun brocaded figures of birds and horses and geometric designs. Nice example in good shape. Wonderful for a school international day.

Its more striking than the picture shows - so if green is your color, take a good look at the pictures. The huipil is traditional 2-panels made on a back-strap loom.  Panel ends are selvage finished in pretty good shape although a bit uneven.  Overall condition is good used, with a little wear under one arm hole (not significant).

Sides seams are open, so can be used as a poncho or easily seamed together. Has some yellowish spotting and staining (subtle but present, I haven't tried to remove) with some loose threads. In  in fair to moderately good used condition.

Sides seams closed. Uneven sun fading most noticeable in lower areas of panels that were probably tucked in, Fits over my 22" circumference head . In fair to moderately good used condition.
H_CH_044  Adult huipil  Width: 33"  Length: 23 - 24.5" Neck : 6.5" w, 3"d Weight: # Price: $45 sold				Chajul Huipil  --- I haven't seen many pink huipils from chajul.  This one is soft and has some sparkly threads woven into the brocade.  I believe figures are double headed eagle.  Panel ends are selvage finished with some wear and light "runs" in one selvage edge.  There is some wear and loose threads on the brocade.  Overall condition: moderately good used with some fading along lower salvage and light spotting or graying in some of the base material.  Still would be fun hupil to wear and would be priced higher if didn't have the wear.

Base material is a rich wine red and is soft and relatively evenly worn. Sides seams are open, so can be used as a poncho or easily seamed together.  Overall condition: fair used. Note damage and reinforcement in closeup of neck below.  Otherwise moderately good with light spotting and wear.

Selvage edges have been lightly hemmed on 3 or the 4 panels.   In  very good used condition with a few loose threads .  Sides are open so could be worn as a poncho or easily stitched closed.

Page Updated 01/11/2012	Fitting Tips ---  Huipils were traditionally made on a loom. Thus they are made of rectangular pieces and are not intended to be a fitted garment.  The width of the garment should be considerably larger (at least 25 to 33%) than the shoulders of the wearer.  Think about room to grow too! Mayan women often put tucks in a huipil's shoulder then remove them as a child grows.  Neck and head hole openings on Huipils are often small.  Note that we can not guarantee that the neck size of a Huipil fits you and your child.  If you want to wear some huipils you may have to open the neck opening and lightly stitch it. This is especially true of Huipils that have been woven on a back-strap loom.    Please check your neck and head measurements carefully!!!
