Probably acrylic threads. Selvage edge on 2 of the four panels, others fringed.  In  good used condition with light wear.

Price: $25.00		Chajul ---  A two-panel used huipil for a girl made on a back-strap loom.  One of the traditional designs of horse with birds on its back. . Nice selvage edge on  two of the four panels, other panels fringed.  In  good condition with light wear and some loose threads.

H_CH_029  Adult huipil  Width: 30"  Length: 25" Neck : 6. w, 3"d Weight: .1#, 5 oz Price: $40.00		Chajul Huipil  --- A two-panel huipil for a woman made on a back-strap loom. Color is a very dark brown, probably acrylic.  Selvage edge on all sides, one longer than others. reinforced.  In  good condition with a little fading and light wear. Sides seams are open, so can be used as a poncho or easily seamed together. Fits over my head.  This would be fun to wear!

The price reflects that uncertainty. Selvage edges have been lightly hemmed on 3 or the 4 panels.   In  very good used condition with a few loose threads .  Sides are open so could be worn as a poncho or easily stitched closed.

Chajul Huipil  --- A two-panel huipil for a woman made on a back-strap loom.  Traditional designs of horses with birds on their back.  I am uncertain as to whether the thread is polished cotton or acrylic. The price reflects that uncertainty. Selvage edges on the 4 panels acceptable, but a little loose.   In  generally good used condition with a few loose threads and some light spotting.

Page Updated 12/10/2009	Fitting Tips ---  Huipils were traditionally made on a loom. Thus they are made of rectangular pieces and are not intended to be a fitted garment.  The width of the garment should be considerably larger (at least 25 to 33%) than the shoulders of the wearer.  Think about room to grow too! Mayan women often put tucks in a huipil's shoulder then remove them as a child grows.  Neck and head hole openings on Huipils are often small.  Note that we can not guarantee that the neck size of a Huipil fits you and your child.  If you want to wear some huipils you may have to open the neck opening and lightly stitch it. This is especially true of Huipils that have been woven on a back-strap loom.    Please check your neck and head measurements carefully!!!
