i wrote emails to about 150 of my favorite companies and asked them for a free sample or coupon. many of the products in my pantry were made by kraft, nestle, and general mills. most of the products in my cleaning closet were church & dwight, proctor & gamble, and kimberly clark. it was astounding to see how many different products were made by the same few companies. michelle p on september 15, 2017:

• if you can't do that think of other ways you can set yourself apart (different design, better photos, better packaging, better copywriting, etc). get creative and don't just copy others. study your niche! examine your competitors listings deeply, check out their reviews (mostly their 1-2 stars ratings) and see what they are doing wrong and how you can "exploit" that to make your brand better. it can be better customer service, better qa, better product design, better manual, etc etc. outsource if you can. at first i tried to do everything by myself. that include: taking photos of my product, writing my listing, designing my logo, etc. but there are people out there that for a few bucks are going to do a much better job and going to save you tons of energy you could spend on other things. seriously stop trying to do everything by yourself and just go to fiverr.com or upwork.com and pay a few bucks to get things done for you. that's it for now, good luck everyone and feel free to ask me any question!

in case you missed it, if you purchase something on amazon.com and need to return it, you can simply print a return slip and take it with the product to any kohl's location-- no box or shipping pack required. kohl's will pack it up and send it back to amazon for you, for free. conventional wisdom says amazon is largely responsible for the problems facing major retailers. not only do i think that's untrue, in the case of kohl's, amazon has actually helped the retailer to increase foot traffic in its stores by 24 percent since the end of july. that's when kohl's started accepting amazon returns at all of its 1,158 department stores.
