Traditional older style of red and white striped back ground with tiny brocaded decorations of ducks, stars, dogs and other designs.  The huipil has 2 panels of back strap loomed cotton measuring 21" wide and 13.5 inches long.Hand-crocheted reinforcement around the neck.  A very finely woven huipil,  in nice condition.

Ends of two panels are not finished except for machine stitching to avoid unraveling other two have loose selvage ends.  A good used huipil with a few light spots.

Huipil  Width: 31": Length:26" Neck :6"w, 2.5"d Price: $40.00		San Lucas Toliman,  New two paneled huipil fabric.  Handmade on back strap loom you can either open up the panels where they have been hand seamed together and use the slit as a neck hole to make a very comfortable "poncho" blouse.  Alternatively used the material as a wonderful tablecloth or pillow cover.  This is the newer more open weave style and would be quite comfortable to wear on a warmer day.  The colors are really striking.  In excellent condition with fringed edges to the panels.

H_SLT_031* Huipil  Width: 31": Length:26" Neck :8w, 3"d Price: $40.00		Probably San Lucas Toliman,  I am not sure that this is from San Lucas although the person who sold me said it was from San Lucas Toliman. A woman's newer style back-strap woven huipil with open weaving that is more comfortable on a warm day. Very nice designs brocaded into the fabric. Unusual in that it has 3 panels each with good selvages (almost more of a coban style).     It is a beautiful huipil that fits over head and that I would feel very comfortable wearing.  The long width creates the effect of sleeves that almost go down to my elbow.  In excellent condition, almost no wear.

	Fitting Tips ---  Huipils were traditionally made on a loom. Thus they are made of rectangular pieces and are not intended to be a fitted garment.  The width of the garment should be considerably larger (at least 25 to 33%) than the shoulders of the wearer so that the huipils covers part of the upper arm.  Think about room to grow too! Mayan women often put tucks in a huipil's shoulder then remove them as a child grows.  Neck and head hole openings on Huipils are often small.  Note that we can not guarantee that the neck size of a Huipil fits you and your child.  If you want to wear some huipils you may have to open the neck opening and lightly stitch it. This is especially true of Huipils that have been woven on a back-strap loom.    Please check your neck and head measurements carefully!!!  The arm holes can also be small, but can usually be easily opened.
