This is a back-strap loomed double-paneled huipil., measuring 24” wide by 22” long.  Nicely woven cotton panels with end selvages finished. Nice hand-embroidered flowers. Backstrap loomed, 2 panels, measuring 19.5” wide by 28”  long.  Fun colorful circle of flowers surrounded by "feathered" pattern - all very nicely hand-embroidered. In generally good condition with a few loose threads.  The 1-inch slit that was cut to enlarge the head needs some finishing. The "randa" that was used to connect the two panels was unusually nicely done.  Soft red cotton foundation weave with very finely done selvage ends on each panel. A few minor spots.  Generally very good condition for a child's huipil.

Side pleats remain intact.  Very good condition with light wear. Both sides very similar designs.

A few  wear areas that don't bother me.  Generally used huipil in generally good condition.

Back-strap loomed, 2 panels.  Feathered embroidery design around neck is nice but has loose threads and wear especially on one side.  Some wear and light spotting on back-strapped woven panels. Panels have uneven length. Sides somewhat open - can easily be stitched together or opened to wear as a poncho.  Overall a child's huipil, in generally good condition, but with wear. .

This is a back-strap loomed double-paneled huipil., measuring 27.5” wide by 20” long.  Very finely embroidered rose-colored flowers are  around the neck.  Embroidery and neck opening in generally excellent condition.  Also embroidery at arm opening.  Nicely woven soft hand-woven cotton fabric in good with a few light areas of wear. Note the birds that are part of the neck embroidery (somewhat unusual)  as well as the very nicely hand-embroidered flowers. The embroidery is in very good condition The well-finished neck opening shows slight surface wear. 	Fitting Tips ---  Huipils were traditionally made on a loom. Thus they are made of rectangular pieces and are not intended to be a fitted garment.  The width of the garment should be considerably larger (at least 25 to 33%) than the shoulders of the wearer.  Think about room to grow too! Mayan women often put tucks in a huipil's shoulder then remove them as a child grows.  Neck and head hole openings on Huipils are often small.  Note that we can not guarantee that the neck size of a Huipil fits you and your child.  If you want to wear some huipils you may have to open the neck opening and lightly stitch it. This is especially true of Huipils that have been woven on a back-strap loom.    Please check your neck and head measurements carefully!!!
