Un poco de TODO sobre el Tejido Maya:

 Actividades para ninos 9 - 11 anos

(A little Bit about Everything concerning Mayan Weaving: Activity Book for Children 9 - 11)

Fabiana Flores de Saenz (text)Dulce Maria Gonzalez de Garcia (illustrations)

Price: $7.00

sorry out of stock!!!

Description:        Great Paper Dolls to Play with!!! - This is an 18 page activity book in Spanish (no translation available yet) published by the Friends of Ixchel Museum, a wonderful Textile Museum in Guatemala City.  The activity book contains boy (Pedro)  and girl (Ixchelita) paper dolls.  Each has 4 traditional Mayan outfits to choose from. The girls includes the traditional huipil.  There is also pictures of loom with Mayan Hieroglyphics and a number of other activities for the child to explore.   This is a another good resource for those of us that want to share the rich traditions of the Mayan culture, textiles, arts and crafts with Children.

Age:     Any age that likes to play with paper dolls  would enjoy the boy and girl cutout dolls.   Other parts of the activity book may be more difficult because they are in Spanish and involve weaving and textiles.  They would be great if a child is learning Spanish, or studying Central American culture and crafts and has a teacher or loving adult to work with on the activities.

Key words       Guatemala; Textiles; Paper Dolls; Culture and traditions; juvenile literature; Mayan; Weaving; Huipils, Huipiles
